Fran Jubran (Tatuí, 1979) lives and works in São Paulo. A visual artist, her research investigates human connections through images, spaces, and surfaces, shifting from the reinterpretation of personal photographs to architectures and materials that bear traces of presence. She employs painting, architectural fragments, and supports such as marble, leather, and fabric to construct works in which memory, body, and space coexist in a state of constant rearrangement.
ONE BODY INSIDE THE OTHER (UM CORPO NO OUTRO)
Images do not remain where they were born. They traverse bodies, shift their material form, and continue to exist elsewhere. In these books, leather shelters, scarves unfold, and the visitor’s gesture completes the work. Each opening displaces the image once again, transforming the book into a place of passage, where memory, material, and presence continue to wander. Images, too, require a body to continue existing.
IT'S NOT THE SAME ANYMORE (JÁ NÃO É O MESMO)
When an image changes its location, it also transforms. In this book, existing paintings leave their original supports and reappear on scarves through the process of sublimation. The image repeats, yet the material changes: it becomes fabric, fold, volume, and movement. Between what remains and what alters, each transition creates a new presence. What returns is no longer the same.
