Mini Bio

Cláudia Azeredo

My origins? I almost forget them, woven together with the experiences of a lifetime.

I wrote the longings of humankind onto bricks.

I wrote the emotion of stories into stage sets; into woven fabrics, the ancestry of dress.

I wrote into colours the very reason for being; into ruptures, the desire for change.

I have written, and I keep it all on my retina. I invent dramas and rehearse the steps yet to come.

RETINAL PORTRAITS – PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEMORY (RETRATOS DA RETINA – FOTOGRAFIA E MEMÓRIA)

Some paths lead forward, while others lead us astray—I prefer the latter. Even in my everyday routes, I walk them as though it were the first time. I imprint on my retina the details that change with time and with the shifting light of day.

Some paths reveal exactly why they exist; others leave traces and allow the imagination to wander.

What I capture with my old Pentax reflects the subtle way I see the world: sometimes filled with colour, sometimes marked by fissures, sometimes reduced to mere lines. My intention is to transform reality into dream.
