SAMPA is the name by which the inhabitants of the city of São Paulo refer to it, as well as the title of this series. Comprising zines, the work brings together photographs taken during daily journeys across the metropolis—observed through a car windshield and captured with a mobile phone camera. The images construct a sensitive cartography of the city, revealing—amidst movement and stillness—fragments of the experience of inhabiting the city.

When displayed open together, the zines take on a three-dimensional quality, evoking the city’s vertical skyline, graffiti-covered surfaces, and traces of human occupation; they give substance to the fragment, the rhythm, and the logic of *pixação* as a form of inscription and reinvention of urban space.
