In "Journeys of the Gaze Through Cairo", Marla presents a book of drawings created during a three-month stay in the Egyptian capital in 2026. Armed with a ballpoint pen, felt-tip markers, and India ink, the artist turned her sketchbook into a refuge and a place for dialogue with the city. Metro platforms and train cars, sidewalks, car seats, and waiting rooms were among the spaces where the drawings came to life. The book invites the viewer to join the journey.
