Enseigne des Oudin 2025
In the discreet surroundings of Rue Martel, among cafes and old shops in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, a small door leads to the basement of a former printing house. There, the Enseigne des Oudin Fonds de Dotation thrives, a unique space that hosts exhibitions, recitals, and a vast collection of artists' books, all far from the spotlight, but close to what really matters: people who love books!
Founded in 2018 by Marie Chamant and Alain Oudin, the gallery boasts over 40 years of history. Before settling in this basement space, it functioned as a bookstore and artistic meeting point, spanning decades and formats, always centered around words, images, and printed art.
Today, the Enseigne des Oudin functions as a gallery, documentation center, and living archive. With a bold and independent curatorial approach, it provides space for artists who work across artist's books, visual poetry, graphic arts, and non-linear narratives. It was in this context that we presented our work, as part of the exhibition 300 livres d’artiste, an exhibition that brought together different perspectives on the artist's book.
The exhibition was structured in three sessions, bringing together guest artists and works from the institution's own collection. A collection that began to be formed in 1983, with two books by Leszek Brogowski, and which expanded in 1984 with the first volume of Marie Chamant, milestones that inaugurated a collection now recognized for its diversity and for a curatorial approach that constantly challenges conventional standards.
Our participation was also part of the Brazil-France Season, creating a bridge between practices, perspectives, and ways of doing things that cross borders. For us, it was an honor to participate in this exhibition and share our books in a space so committed to experimentation and the history of the artist's book.
