Travessia on view at Unicamp’s rare books library
The work developed in 2025 with M.A.L.A.’s residents has entered a new phase in 2026. The exhibition of artists’ books Travessia is on view at one of the most important reference centers for the preservation and production of knowledge on rare collections in the state of São Paulo: the Fausto Castilho Rare Books Library at Unicamp (Campinas).
Being at BORA is both an honor and a responsibility for M.A.L.A.: placing the artists’ book in dialogue with traditions, techniques, and memories that span centuries. Its collection comprises more than 100,000 items from the 15th to the 20th century. Inaugurated in 2020, its origins date back to 1983, when the Department of Special Collections and Rare Works was established, then still located within the Central Library.
Crossing Travessia arrives in this context reaffirming the book as a space of experimentation and displacement—an object that continues to reinvent itself, even within the most established forms in the history of the book.
