PASSAGE(N)S
PASSAGE(N)S Lidice Salgot Covered passages are 19th-century galleries created to serve the French bourgeoisie—commercial spaces covered in glass, wood, and later iron - connecting one street to another. Many were demolished during Eugène Haussmann's urbanization in the second half of the 19th century; those that remained were restored in the early 20th century. Two formats were created for the exhibitions: a flagbook made with tourist photos, watercolor, and old and current maps of Paris that invite us to dream and imagine where these passages lead. And a tunnelbook, a reproduction of a passage – made with collage and watercolor – cut out and arranged like a tunnel, creating an illusion of depth and mystery.
