Helio Mattos Jr.

On his walks along the seashore, almost as if in a ritual, Hélio Mattos Jr. always goes to the pier where he can see a corroded structure, the ruins of Vitória's old waterway, which is more or less submerged by the tides. He uses photographs of this object and the sea that surrounds it in a DIVE that is as introspective as it is open to the revelations of the image itself; a DIVE that deteriorates and regenerates through enlargement, cropping, saturation, wear, and sequencing, suggesting new landscapes, textures, and texts.
