médiathèque Marguerite Duras

Beyond the Enseigne des Oudin gallery, we expanded our exchanges with a second exhibition in Paris. It took place at the Médiathèque Marguerite Duras, an essential space for the preservation and dissemination of literary production, with an emphasis on women authors, and also for the promotion of artists' books and experimental publications.

From the very beginning of the setup, we could already see the enthusiasm and dedication of the Médiathèque team towards the M.A.L.A. project. And this was the result: even on a cold and rainy Friday in Paris, the opening was a success!

Their attention to detail was impeccable. The display cases, lighting, framing, signage, the arrangement of the artworks… everything was perfectly balanced, highlighting the work of each resident while also enhancing the overall M.A.L.A. project. Their gesture went beyond the professional: there was genuine respect and interest.

Throughout the exhibition, we welcomed artists and researchers we met during our time in France, who came to support us. And, in addition to the exhibition, we were invited to offer a bookbinding workshop focused on artist's books. Sharing the process of graphic experimentation with stencils and bookbinding technique dos à dos with the Médiathèque's public was very rewarding and reinforced the sense of exchange that we want for the project.

Another highlight was the guided tour of the artist's book collection, held on the very day we finished the installation, in a carefully prepared and very special presentation.
