Flavia Sampaio She dedicates herself to photography and its experimentalisms in the investigation of memory, the passage of time, and its transfigurations. Her project Carved Time was published in journals from UEMG and the Catholic University of Pernambuco, and was also a finalist for the 2022 Imaginária Photobook Festival award. In 2024, she participated in the group exhibition "Andanças | M.A.L.A." at the El Rule Cultural Center in Mexico and Galeria Página in São Paulo. In 2025, she launched the book Carved Time at the Foto em Pauta Festival in Tiradentes. Her book was included in the collection "Un fonds photographique Brésilien à la BnF" (Brazilian Photographic Backgrounds at the BnF) of the Bibliotèque Nationale de France.
SEM FÔLEGO (BREATHLESS)
The work presents poetic texts that complement the images. The idea is to lead the reader to experience the feeling of breathlessness. Dyspnea is the term for this moment: breathing accelerates, the lungs compress, and the alveoli become clogged with air. Time also shrinks. Visions caused by this shrinking of life take shape beyond the blurs. Images invaded by the colors and sepia of yesteryear. The absence of air leads to the final journey. To transit is to pass from one state to another.
